The Circular Innovation Hub seeks to strengthen the value chain for recycled plastics in Ghana, while also moving women waste pickers from collectors into small scale recyclers.
To achieve its mission, Environment360 works with women waste pickers to train them on design principles and operation of an open source recycling technology, while also working with businesses to identify and replace imported plastic components that can be made locally with recycled plastics.
Upon completion of the program, women waste pickers have the opportunity to own their own recycling technology and create products for the companies working with the Hub.
The Hub, which is located in Dodowa, graduated its first class on the 16th of September 2021 at the Australian High Commission. The first class of ladies designed handle bar grips for the Kumasi based company Bamboo Bikes.
