Environment360 is a Ghana based NGO that supports the creation of circular economies in urban and coastal communities. The 9organization works with stakeholders along the waste value chain to support formalization of informal plastic waste collectors, also known as waste pickers. The organization has activities in Accra and Kumasi and is known as an innovator in the recycling space.
We are seeking a part-time field officer to support two (2) collection points in Kumasi. The first collection point is in Asafo, the second collection point is in Parkoso. The field officer oversees collection points on operational days and supports the collection of data. The field officer is responsible for overseeing weighing and flaking of materials and ensures information submitted to Environment360’s Accra head office is accurate. The field officer may also be requested to attend meetings with community stakeholders in Kumasi from time to time. In addition to physical activities, the field officer will submit weekly field reports, including pictures, from each collection point.
This position reports to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am-3 pm each day.
The ideal candidate will be able to lift a minimum of 15kg. Be comfortable working in the field and standing long periods of time. Person must also be comfortable interacting with informal sector plastic waste collectors. Candidate must have a laptop and a phone with a high quality camera available, must have basic knowledge on how to use Word and Excel and be able to fluently speak Twi and English. An interest in the plastics sector is a plus, as well as ability to identify various plastics types.
